Homemade bats and tshirts

We went to a birthday party and they had black bats all over for decoration and H feel in love with them. She asked if I could make her some. So I found an old pattern of a bat and got a piece of foam, cut them out and put them up with sticky tack.

The shirt I made for the pumpkin patch. I found the wonder in wonder under. lol. you iron it to back side of fabric cut out a shape peel off paper on back of wonder under and iron it on the shirt. what could be easier. It stayed wonderfully but after washing the fabric started to slightly wear so I am going to add a zig zag stitch around it.

Monster art

In the spirit of Halloween we did a Halloween Monster college. I gave her glue, googly eyes, feathers, pom poms, and spiders and let her lose. It was so fun to see her create her Monster. She talked about how many eyes it had and it was a sticky monster because of the glue. it was really fun

Pumpkin Math Matching

We are working on number recognition. Seeing the number in both the numerical way and the physical way. I made some number cards that I can use over and over again. Right now it is fall and I am using pumpkins I got at hobby lobby in the fall section. I used scrapbook numbers and garage sale pricing circles on index cards. She has to count the number of dots and then add that number of pumpkins, and start to recognizing the numbers in there numerical form.

Mini Carmel Apples

so I have seen this snack at http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/mini-caramel-apples-688916/ and it really looked like so much fun. However, I did not follow directions lol. I just used peanut butter and caramel dipper sauce from happy meal and sprinkles. I took the picture at face value and it was not easy to make. I think had I followed the directions it would have been much funner, however it was yummy

adding a surprise to play dough

I surprised H with some googly eyes in her play dough this morning. She loved it!! She made monsters, kitties, and happy faces. it was so much fun

We added pumpkin pie spice and vanilla to the dough the girls loved the smell. and we learned that red and yellow makes orange had fun touching the sticky play dough and kneading it. lol. It was so much fun to see them see the ingredients change in front of them, and then played with it of course there favorite part.

Muffin tin Monday: Halloween theme

This weeks muffin tin Monday was by far the most fun to plan and create! We have monster googly eyes cup, grapes with cran~raisins eyes, witch fingers with blood red finger nails, a mini cupcake, mummy pizza, hard boiled egg eye with black olive(I don't know why the yellow is white in picture), applesauce with a bat and bones and Halloween shaped cheese around the ghost shaped muffin tin. I usually have H help me make the tin and make it a fun experience but, I have a really busy day tomorrow so I made the tin ahead of time so we could get to it fast. I can't wait to show her.

Patterns with fall leaves

Working with patterns is a great way to increase your child's math skills, patterns are all around us in our clothes, in nature and all around us. Identifying and creating patterns is just the beginning of the mastery of life-long math skills. I was going through some of my old preschool stuff and came across a pattern and decided to make on for H then I starting pointing out patterns to H in the car and in the stores. In just a couple of days she is really catching on and becoming interested and pointing them out to me and my husband. It is so amazing to see how fast they learn

Bento lunches

I made H's lunch and my hubby's snack in the bento style today. She has cubed deli turkey, apples, grape tomatoes, carrots, red and green bell peppers, and cheese and olives. Hubby has cheese and olives, grape tomatoes, apples, carrots, grapes and red and green bell peppers.

Leave Prints

Before we did our fall college from our camping trip, I taped the leaves to the a clipboard so they wouldn't move around and let H rub crayons on top of them to see the print. It was trail and era cause she was not rubbing hard enough but she finally got the hang of it. We talked about why the leaves change colors and fall out of the trees, and the different shapes and sizes of leaves. and we used a magnifying glass to see all the lines and veins in the leaf.

Fall college

We went camping over the weekend and we went on a scavenger hunt to gathered several types of leaves, acorns, pine cones, ect. Then H made a college with some of her finds for her fall college.

Pretend Pumpkin Patch

H wanted to go to the pumpkin patch the other day and it had already gotten to late to go so we went outside and I drew a pumpkin patch with chalk on the ground. She pretended to drive there on her three wheeler and pick up pumpkins for mommy, daddy, and her the ones for mommy and daddy were really heavy so I had to help her pick them up. then she walked around our pretend corn maze and to a ride on the hay ride. She had so much fun!

Muffin Tin Monday: pumpkins

Muffin tin Monday this week had a pumpkin theme~how fun! We made pumpkin muffins on Sunday, and orange kool-aide with pumpkin shaped ice cubes. Pumpkin homemade notebook

H loves to draw it is one of her favorite things to do. So I cut out a half pumpkin shape in orange construction paper from an old pattern I had in my file. I also cut several pieces of white typing paper put a few wholes in the pages and tied it off with a green string. She loves the idea of having her own notebook.

Homemade biscuits

We love making homemade biscuits and we love having H help in the kitchen. She is a big part of meals. If she sees us about to cook something she goes and gets her apron and chair and is ready to help. She mixes, measures, and pours ingredient. And she helped put them on the cookie sheet. She takes so much more pride in what she is eating knowing that she made it.
We don't have a real exact recipe for biscuits but here is what it consist of:
self rising flour
butter flavored shortening
mix flour and shortening with fork till consistent and add milk till moistened. then spoon on sprayed cookie sheet and bake on 450 for 20-30 minutes? not really sure on time just till smells right and is starting to brown on top. I know it is really vague sorry but they are delicious.

After we had the biscuits in the oven H played with the leftover dough for the biscuits the whole time they were in the oven it was like play dough to her she had so much fun.

Falling Leaves Art

With fall weather finally hitting us under of the 100's I was ready to start doing some fall activities. I used to do this activity with my toddlers when I taught at the preschool. They loved the idea of using there hand and fingers to paint. You take brown paint and paint there hand and down there arm and let them press it on the paper. (I did not have brown paint so I mixed equal parts of blue, red, and yellow to make brown paint.) Then let them have red, yellow and orange paint and let them finger paint the leaves in. I believe in letting them do there own thing with art. We talked about leaves changing and fall, and then she did the rest.
