Father's Day

So my husband had to work today but we made the best of it. Yesterday H painted him a picture which we made a card and we made Blueberry loaf bread together. We surprised daddy with the card and bread for breakfast when he got up for work. Then today H made a cake for him. I poured it in the pan and put it in the oven and she did the rest. Then I made vanilla whip cream frosting soooooo good! and H decorated the cake all by herself. Nick loved it! she did not get the concept that he already saw the card this morning so we gave it to him again and it was precious. Then I made him shrimp and mushroom pesto. I was a great day ended by playing with play dough and a dip in the hot tub. The simple things in life are the best.

She was so proud of her work she couldn't wait for daddy to get in the door we met him at the truck to tell him all about it.

Yogurt freeze pops

My daughter is not a fan of Popsicle but she loves yogurt and I saw this in Rachel Ray's Yumm-O cookbook. She used Key-lime Yogurt but we like Strawberry so we used that instead. And H was able to do everything except put it in the freezer.
The recipe:
Dixie cups or popsicle molds
Yogurt
Blueberries
Popsicle sticks
spoon in yogurt add berries and a Popsicle stick and freeze can't be any easier. When you are taking them out of the freezer to eat warm a cup of water in microwave and dip cup in there for about 20 seconds to loosen it from the cup

Shaving cream painting

When I was a teacher for 2 year old's this was one of their favorite activities! H loved it she said it was cold and soft, and she was making her daddy a birthday cake and stirring it. After she had played for a few minutes I joined in and tried to stack the shaving cream, and made letters and shapes. It was a really fun way to throw in educational learning and it didn't even feel like it.

Breakfast Parfaits

H loves to help in the kitchen and we out of milk and oatmeal this morning for breakfast. So I couldn't make cereal, oatmeal or pancakes and she doesn't eat eggs or grits. I was about to take her out for breakfast when I had an idea there was one go-gurt or however you spell it in the fridge and some strawberries. So we made her a parfait. She cut up strawberries and then crushed Cheerios to put on top of her yogurt. Only problem was that she wanted more when she ate it all but now we were out of that too. lol now off to the grocery.

Painting with Q-tips

I love to find new things to paint with it keeps it exciting and creative. When I was pregnant with my daughter for some reason a got like 6 jumbo boxes of Q-tips. I don't think I could use that much in a lifetime if i had 6 kids lol. So I was trying to think of things I could do with them and thought they would make great paint brushes. and sure enough my daughter loved it.

Teddy Bear Teddy Bear

I love finding new movement songs to do with my daughter. I feel upon this one in an old book I had and thought I would share. I had totally forgotten about it. Hailey held her teddy bear while singing it and she did the movements with the bear.

Teddy bear, teddy bear turn around
Teddy bear, teddy bear touch the ground
Teddy bear, teddy bear reach up high
Teddy bear, teddy bear touch the sky
Teddy bear, teddy bear bend dow low
Teddy bear, teddy bear touch your toes

Muffin Tin Monday

This week was kinda laid back. We started summer movies that are every Monday through out the summer and today we got back to the house late. She had pineapple, strawberries, watermelon, leftover lasagna, cheese and french bread.

Making her own pasta salad

H loves to help in the kitchen and I love to find ways to incorporate her in the meals so I was making pasta salad and cut everything up and let her make it herself she got to chose what when into her pasta. she was so proud and my husband couldn't get in the door fast enough before she was telling him about her lunch.

Haven't Posted alot lately

I have realized that I need to unplug more from my electronics. I have always been big on no TV when my daughter is awake we have a DVR and I record all the shows that I want to see and watch them either at nap time or when she goes to bed at night. I have always been pretty good at staying with the same rule with the computer but since we got the new lab top and it is downstairs it is harder cause it is right here and so covenant. I am really trying to back off the computer and play more with H. I have some new project ideas and games for her I will be posting soon, but right now I am just playing with my little one and trying to get organized for the week ahead.

Letters and Numbers window clings

I found these letters and numbers window clings at the DOLLAR TREE! I did not know they had such a great selection of educational tools. I also got two posters that I need to get laminated that is letters and numbers as well. One of the things I really like about the letters is the picture of the object the letter starts with is actually something the kids know. I find more and more these days there are really strange things with the letters. This one keeps it simple so the little ones can understand it. H knows several letters already: H,M,O,D,Y,A,B now just from a day of two playing with the letters she knows: T,S,J,C which I think is pretty good for 25 months.

Muffin tin Monday

Muffin tin Monday has become such and exciting part of our week. Hailey looks forward to it every time, we actually did it for lunch and dinner this week. I found these ocean pokers at the grocery store in the bakery department, it is the stuff they put on top the cupcakes. I like it cause they are not sharp like tooth picks but blunt enough to stab the soft food. I am not sure why the picture keeps coming up sideways I have tried to upload it three times now so I am sorry you have to turn you head sideways to see it.

Cooking with daddy

We always try to let H help in the kitchen when we can. She loves to be our little helper. Weather it is stirring or pouring ingredients into the pot she has to be part of cooking.
